On Friday, December 7th, 1979, the feast of St. Ambrose, DeAngelo N. Bowe, was born to Eileen Cartwright (nee Treco) and John Bowe.
DeAngelo received his early education at The Scrub Hill All-Age School, Lower Deadman’s Cay Primary School, and N.G.M. Major High School in Long Island, where he spent his most formative years living between his mother and grandparents Maude and Captain Stanley Bridgewater (deceased). He completed his high school education at Freeport Anglican High School, where he graduated in 1997.
As a boy in Long Island, he received his Christian formation in Sunday School and served around the altars of Holy Cross in Hamiltons and St. Athanasius in Deadman’s Cay, where he would later be ordained deacon. He continued his formation at Christ the King Church, Freeport, under the guidance of his cousin and foster father, Archdeacon Keith N. Cartwright. During his final year of high school, he expressed his desire to become a priest in the Anglican Church. Upon Graduation from high school, he worked for Barclays Bank for one year. He then entered Codrington Theological Seminary and The University of The West Indies to test his vocation for the priesthood. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology from the University of the West Indies and a Diploma in Pastoral Studies from Codrington Theological Seminary in 2002.
Upon completing his studies at Codrington College, DeAngelo had not reached the canonical age for ordination and, as a result, was assigned to Freeport Anglican High School as a teacher and ordinand to the Church of the Good Shepherd, Pinders Point, under the direction of Canon Harry Ward. In 2003 he was reassigned to the Church of the Ascension, Lucaya, Grand Bahama, under the direction of Archdeacon Cornell J Moss (deceased), who prepared him for ordination to the diaconate on October 11th, 2003, at St Athanasius Church, Long Island, by the Most Rev’d Drexel W. Gomez. In July 2004, he was reassigned as the assistant curate to the Parish Church of The Most Holy Trinity with Archdeacon E. Etienne E. Bowleg (deceased), and on November 1st, 2004, he was ordained as a priest at Christ Church Cathedral. After serving for two years as the priest responsible for youth ministry in the parish, he was transferred to Christ the King, Ridgeland Park as the assistant curate under the direction of Archdeacon Ivan Ranferley Brown from 2006-2007.
Fr Bowe has served as Rector in the following Parishes during his ministry:
- St. Michael’s & All Angels & St. Nicholas, Sweetings Cay & High Rock; 2007-2011
- Sts. Peter & Anne Parish, North Abaco, 2011 -2018
- Holy Spirit Anglican Church, Chippingham, New Providence, 2018-2021
- Parish Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Stapledon Gardens, New Providence, 2021-Present
- He serves as a Member of the Board for Codrington College, a member of the Provincial Doctrinal Commission, and a member of the Diocesan Council.
- On April 2nd, 2005, Fr. Bowe married Tennessee Bowe (nee Major), and they are the proud parents of Kymani Keith and Alayna Mona-Lisa Adderley.
