The Rev’d. Dr. John Rogers

Rev Senator Dr. John Rogers is a distinguished figure known for his deep commitment to theology and public service. Born on August 30, 1972, he has dedicated his life to studying scripture and advancing his community.

With a rich academic background, Dr. Rogers pursued his studies at the University of the West Indies, earning a B.Sc. in Natural Sciences (Hons.) and a B.A. in Theology (Hons.). His passion for theology led him to further studies at the University of Birmingham in the UK, where he obtained his M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Theology, specializing in Old Testament studies.

Dr. Rogers has made significant contributions to the field of theology, particularly through his research and publications. In 2009, he authored the acclaimed book “Faith of Our Fathers: The Development of the Apostles’ Creed,” shedding light on this fundamental Christian creed’s historical and theological evolution.

Dr. Rogers has held various esteemed positions throughout his career, reflecting his dual commitment to academia and ministry. He served as a Lecturer of Old Testament Studies at Codrington College from 2006 to 2015, shaping the minds of future theologians. Additionally, he has served as the Rural Dean of St. John’s Deanery since 2014 and as the Rector of St. George Parish Church since 2015, providing pastoral care and spiritual guidance to his congregation.

Beyond his local ministry, Dr. Rogers has engaged in international dialogue and collaboration within the Anglican Communion. His involvement in the Inter Anglican Standing Committee of Unity, Faith, and Order (IASCUFO) since 2021 highlights his dedication to fostering unity and understanding within the global Anglican community.

Dr. Rogers’ influence extends beyond the pulpit and lecture hall. As an Independent Senator in the Parliament of Barbados since 2018, he brings his moral compass and theological insights to the realm of public policy, advocating for justice, compassion, and the common good.

In addition to his professional endeavours, Dr Rogers cherishes his personal life. He is a devoted husband and father, finding strength and joy in his family.
